Gambians have expressed concerns over the current situation in neighbouring Senegal following days of violent protests.

The Government in a statement said it notes with utmost concern, recent developments in the sister Republic of Senegal and called for all parties to give peace a chance

This comes after opposition leader Ousman Sonko was handed a two-year jail term by a Dakar court.
