Security forces in Senegal have fired tear gas and stun grenades to disperse opposition supporters attempting to gather in the capital Dakar for the first of three days of planned opposition protests.
The protests are in response to the libel trial of one of the opposition leaders, which has sparked tension and violence ahead of next year’s presidential elections.
As Tofik Abdul Nasir reports, Shops and banks in the capital closed early on Wednesday in anticipation of the protests.
