The Malian Armed Forces have confirmed that 80 insurgents were neutralised following Tuesday’s coordinated jihadist attacks across the country. The assailants targeted seven military installations, including key barracks and outposts.
In a televised statement, the army reassured citizens of its commitment to fighting terrorism and stabilising the country. The attacks, claimed by the Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM), mark a troubling spike in extremist violence across the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) bloc.
The military noted that while the assaults caused significant material damage and casualties among troops, their swift response helped to repel the attackers.
Tuesday’s events highlight the persistent threat of terrorism in the region and the urgent need for coordinated security efforts among AES members.
