A Dakar court has handed a two-month suspended prison sentence and a fine of 200 million CFA francs to the Senegalese opposition leader, Ousmane Sonko in a case of defamation against Senegal’s tourism minister Mame Mbaye Niang.
Ousmane Sonko failed to appear in court on the grounds of his health condition.
Meanwhile, Juan Branco, a reinforcement in his defense team from France, was turned away upon his arrival at the airport. The Pastef leader’s lawyers denounced this act and said they doubted the impartiality of the process.
