Niger’s new President has appointed Ouhou-moudou Mahamadou as the new Prime Minister.
The graduate in economics and business management from Tahoua in the southwest was until now chief of staff to former President Issoufou.
His appointment was confirmed on Saturday on public television just one day after the inauguration of Mohamed Bazoum as head of the country.
In his inaugural speech, the new Nigerien president said he wants to prioritize the fight against corruption and insecurity, schooling for girls and youth employment, among other things, during the next five years.
Bazoum expressed his willingness to work with civil society to meet all these challenges.
Ali Idrissa, national coordinator of the Network of Organizations for Transparency and Budget Analysis, say they remain cautiously optimistic about the promises of the new president.
