In this edition of Book Review, Sankullah Janko is highlighting one of the most successful works of literature by a woman, breaking the silence on the condition of women in African society.
The book is So Long A Letter, and the author is Mariama Ba, from Senegal.
The novel was first published in 1979 by the late educator and would later be translated into dozens of languages for pupils and the general public because of the depth of its message.
