Journalism is once again flourishing in the Gambia after a dark era in the country’s history when journalists were targeted for their work.

During 22-years of dictatorship under exiled former President Yahya Jammeh, many journalists were forced to flee the country and those who stayed dared not write about controversial issues for fear of their lives.

Many journalists who fled the country have since returned following the election of President Adama Barrow in December 2016.

So what has changed on the Gambia media landscape, five years after the departure of Mr. Jammeh?
