Over a dozen women’s groups in Niger have called on the government to respect certain treaties and conventions guaranteeing the rights of all children, especially girls.

They further urged the government to adopt laws and policies that guarantee the human rights of women and girls.

The plead Thursday, came on the heels of reported deaths of young girls who were married before their eighteenth birthday including one by suicide.
