Recall, south Africa and the United Kingdom are the first nations to record the new nutant virus.

Since the reported case of the new covid19 virus, countries around the world have in recent days announced the discovery on the new strain. 

The Gambia and Ghana are among the countries from the sub-region to confirm the presence of the new strain on their territory.

However, with a more collaborative effort, WHO hopes to track the virus in real time and announce new measures to contain the disease.

The UN health agency during a question-and-answer session Wednesday said that the vaccines being rolled out are effective against the new COV 2.
