Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, hosted a Panel Discussion on Security Sector Governance and Countering Radicalism in the Sahel, on Thursday organized by West Africa Democracy Radio (WADR), where solutions were proffered.
Experts in Security and governance opined that in order to counter the growing cases of terrorism and trans-border crimes in the Sahel region, governments of the region need to rise against the trends of violent radicalism threatening the peace of their countries.
In his presentation, Brigadier General Saleh Bala (Rtd), said the rising threats flowing from the Sahel region down to the coast were largely responsible for the increasing insecurity that has held Nigeria down on its knees.
He was speaking on the theme, “Combating Extremism in the Sahel; what strategies should we employ?”
