The United States Ambassador to Liberia, Michael McCarthy, has denounced the Liberian government elites for neglecting the destitute citizens in the leeward counties by failing to provide essential services such as public healthcare facilities and service centers despite the allocation of resources in the national budget.

However, the assertion has been refuted by Montserrado County Lawmaker, Rustolyn Suakoko Dennis.
