A UN helicopter overturned as it landed in an airbase in Gao, Mali, Thursday due to a strong wind, MINUSMA said in a statement.
The United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali added that it was not an accident, specifying that the crew and passengers are all counted with 2 seriously injured
While no fire was reported following the crash, MINUSMA, explained that the passengers left the plane safely and are receiving medical attention.
Local sources say the aircraft had arrived from Kidal, another troubled region of the country and was carrying 10 passengers and 4 crews.
Deployed in Mali since 2013 to, in particular, protect civilians from terrorist attacks, the UN Peacekeeping force has nearly 15,000 men in its operations.
