UN Chief, Antonio Guterres said his visit was to observe the Ramadan fast with a Muslim country, as he has done since his election.

He also assured of the global organization’s commitment to continue to support African-led peace operations while closely monitoring the development in Mali, Burkina and Guinea.

The UN Secretary General's mini-tour continues today, Monday in Niger where he is due to visit Ouallam, a town in the Tillabéry region affected by insecurity.

An area that also hosts thousands of Malian and Nigerien refugees.
