Two people have been confirmed dead in Houndé, western Burkina Faso following clashes between police and angry gold miners.

According to government’s spokesperson, the gold miners were demanding the release of their colleagues who were arrested a day before for demonstrating and vandalizing equipment, when they clashed with the police.
