Tragedy struck off the coast of Tunisia as a boat carrying irregular migrants, primarily from sub-Saharan Africa, capsized, leading to the death of ten people.

According to a statement released by Tunisian authorities on Wednesday, 76 others who were attempting to enter Europe illegally were rescued.

The authorities expressed their condolences to the families of the victims and reiterated the need for international cooperation to tackle irregular migration and its underlying causes.
