The Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament, Alban Bagbin has referred three Members of Parliament on the side of the governing New Patriotic Party to the Privileges Committee for breaching the 15-day rule in the Chamber.

The three, Dome-Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo, Henry Quartey, and Kennedy Agyapong, according to the Votes and Proceedings have absented themselves from the House for more than the mandatory sitting.

Matters of absenteeism became crucial in the lead up to the passage of the controversial e-levy with numbers on both sides of the house near even.

But for Alban Bagbin, the days of legislators refusing to show up for no reason is over.

The Speaker on Tuesday referred them to the Privileges Committee for the necessary action.
