The Gambia has received 38,000 doses of AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine through the COVAX Facility.

The donation was made by the French government.

The doses are expected to close the gap for adult Gambians who are yet to receive the second dose of AstraZeneca.

Officials of the Ministry of health including Health Minister Ahmed Lamin Samateh received the vaccine on behalf of the Gambia at the Banjul international airport on Sunday.

Our correspondent Sankulleh attended the handing over ceremony, and has been telling us more about the significance of this donation.
