In a determined effort to combat terrorism within its borders, the Burkinabe government enlisting an additional over one hundred thousand civilians to join members of the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP).

Prime Minister Apollinaire Kyelem de Tambèla made the announcement during a recent cabinet meeting, emphasizing the crucial objective of empowering local communities to safeguard their own security, including the most remote regions of the country.
