Ghana’s foreign affairs minister, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey says some students trapped in Ukraine are refusing being airlifted back to Ghana. It follows intensified efforts by the Ghanaian government to have students and citizens’ alike return to the country as the War in Ukraine continues amidst the onslaught from Russia.
Already 17 students have returned to Ghana with some more expected in the country later this week. The foreign affairs minister at a meeting with parents of some of the stranded students said they Ghana government will not continue to bear the cost of the students after they refuse relocation back to Ghana.
