The main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) party of Sierra Leone has announced Samura Kamara as its flagbearer for the June 2023 polls.
Kamara, the runner-up in the last presidential election, won the party primaries with 85% of votes against 17 other candidates.
Recall the politician lost by a close margin to then-opposition candidate President Julius Maada Bio in 2018.
Samura Kamara served as central bank governor, finance minister and foreign affairs minister between 2008 and 2018.
He is contesting for the top job in the June 24 election in which President Julius Maada Bio is also seeking re-election for a second term in office.
