Sierra Leone has joined 119 countries in the world including 21 in Africa to abolish the death penalty.

Lawmakers in the country spent almost the whole of last week deliberating the proposal put before them by Anthony Brewah, the country’s Attorney General and Minister of Justice.

As Patrick Sallia reports from Freetown, human campaigners have hailed the repeal of the law.
