No fewer than 26,000 people are currently displaced in Ghana’s eastern region due to flooding caused by heavy rains.

Tuesday’s count represents a sharp rise from the previous count of 4,000 over the weekend.

The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) said thousands more have been told to leave their homes at the request of state authorities.
