Senegal acquires 1,117 refregerators to store COVID vaccines

Senegal’s Minister of Health and Social Action, Abdoulaye Diouf Sarr says the country has received, 1,117 refrigerators to be used to store vaccines against Covid-19.

This equipment was acquired by the State in collaboration with the Gavi Alliance for an amount of 3 billion 50 million CFA francs.

Speaking to the press upon receipt of the refrigerators on Friday evening, Sarr said, quote "The refrigerators are approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) and can store vaccines between 2 and 8 degrees intended for health posts, districts and regions", unquote. 

According to him, with the exception of the regions of Thiès and Dakar which will each have two refrigerators that can store up to -20 degrees, each region will have a refrigerator that has the same storage capacities.
