The Secretary General of The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Wamkele Mene, has said that the African Union has transferred all functions related to the organization’s agreement from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to Ghana.
According to Mene, the decision of the 13th Extraordinary Session of the Heads of State and Governments, positions Ghana as a gateway to trade and investment in Africa.
Speaking during a Business Forum Wednesday at the commencement of AfCFTA Trading in Ghana, Mene noted that 54 out of 55 countries, have signed the Agreement with 34 depositing their instruments of ratification.
The free-trade area is the largest in the world in the number of participating countries since the creation of the World Trade Organization.
