After his stay in Ouagadougou in his capacity as ECOWAS mediator for Burkina Faso, the former president of Niger Mahamadou Issoufou was in Niamey on Monday, as president of the High Level Panel on Security and Development in the Sahel. 

Issoufou launched the joint African Union-United Nations strategic assessment process on security and development in the Sahel.
