The Chairman and Leader of Sierra Leone’s opposition, Alliance Democratic Party (ADP) Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray has been granted bail for the first time in over one year since his trial on rape started.
In July last year, the Sierra Leone Police confirmed that the top Politician – Mohamed Kamaraimba Mansaray gave himself in after a prolonged rift and misunderstanding about his arrest over allegations of sexually abusing a 15-year-old girl in the diamondiferous district of Kono.
Kamarainba Mansaray who made his first court appearance in August 2020 after he was arrested and charged with seven counts is standing trial alongside the victim’s aunt Marion Arouni.
According to facts presented in court, sometimes in February and March 2020, Mansaray allegedly sexually penetrated the 15-year-old victim while her aunt Arouni conspired to aid and abate Mansaray to commit the act of sexual penetration.
Arouni and Mansaray have denied the allegations in court.
