President John Mahama has held a high-level meeting with major civil society organizations (CSOs) and stakeholders at the Jubilee House to discuss lasting solutions to Ghana’s illegal mining crisis, popularly known as galamsey.
The meeting brought together senior government officials and key civil society leaders in what the presidency described as a platform for “frank and constructive discussions” on the environmental and social toll of illegal mining.
Participants explored collaborative strategies to strengthen enforcement, promote sustainable livelihoods, and restore affected ecosystems, signaling renewed national commitment to ending the galamsey menace.
