Seven members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, including six journalists and a driver, have died in a tragic road accident in Gombe State, northeastern Nigeria.
The victims were returning from a wedding ceremony in the southern part of the state when the fatal crash occurred on the Gombe road.
Nigeria’s Federal Road Safety Corps says preliminary investigations point to a suspected tyre burst as the cause of the accident.
The incident has sparked widespread grief within Nigeria’s media community, with calls for improved road safety and support for the families of the deceased.
