Gambian President Adama Barrow has welcomed the confirmation of Gambian Dr Omar Touray as the next President of Economic Community of West African States ECOWAS Commission.
ECOWAS Heads of State did the confirmation during the 60th Ordinary Session of the bloc in Abuja Nigeria on Sunday.
Dr. Touray is expected to replace his soon to be predecessor and current ECOWAS Commission President Jean Claude Kassie Brou.
The Gambian diplomat Touray will lead the affairs of the commission from 2022-2026.
Barrow hailed the decision adding it’s a demonstration of Gambia’s growing democracy.
