Heavy flooding in the Upper West region of northern Ghana has left one dead and hundreds displaced, officials confirmed on Saturday.
Ahmed Mustapha, the regional coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), said an 80-year-old woman died and at least 323 people displaced.
He said even though ground assessment of the damage done is still ongoing, so far, more than 100 houses in the Wa East district have been destroyed by the floods.
Mustapha, however added that the Ghana Red Cross approached NADMO and promised to support the displaced people by offering them temporary shelter.
