As the race for covid19 vaccine acquisition and subsequent inoculation of the population intensifies, the government of Nigeria said, two potential vaccine candidates have been developed in the country.
Announcing this on Tuesday during the Presidential taskforce on covid19 daily briefing, Nigeria’s Minister of health Dr Osagie Ehanire said the vaccines by two separate laboratories are awaiting approval for use in clinical trials.
According to the minister however, the laboratories will need an estimated 1billion dollar to achieve a global set standard.
Meanwhile, the country has so far registered 13 new cases of the British covid19 variant also known as the B117.
Here’s Dr Ehanire.
