Lawmakers in Nigeria have stepped down a motion seeking to override President Muhammadu Buhari’s veto of the amended Electoral Act.
Speaker of the legislative Assembly, Femi Gbajabiamila, had last week Wednesday given a timeline to members willing to move a motion for the chamber to override the president's veto.
Failure of the assent had denied elected public office holders the chances of participating in the recently concluded primary elections of political parties in the country, as build-up to the 2023 election thickens.
