The Federal Ministry of Education in Nigeria has directed the immediate closure of all unity schools domiciled in the nation's capital Abuja, for fear of impending bandits and terrorists’ attacks.
Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu gave the directive on Monday, saying the closure became necessary following a security breach on Sheda and Lambata Villages, in the suburbs of Kwali Area Council, which also threatened Federal Government College, Kwali.
The Minister also directed Principals of Unity Colleges across the country to liaise with security agencies within their jurisdictions in order to forestall any security breach in their schools.
Students of the College were immediately evacuated from their hostels after the directive was made public.
