The Nigerian Police force has deployed officers on the Abuja – Kaduna highway to ensure the safety of travellers who frequent the road.
This deployment comes days after an attack by bandits on a Kaduna bound train that killed eight people and injured at least 26 others.
The Inspector-General of Police Usman Alkali was on the ground to personally supervise the deployment of the operatives drawn from various units of the force.
Speaking to newsmen, the police chief said he had mapped out some salient and strategic points along the highway which is now a safe route for travellers.
