Authorities in Nigeria are making efforts to reduce discrimination against Persons Living with Disability.
On January 23 2019, President Muhammadu Buhari signed into law, the Discrimination against Persons with Disability Prohibition Act. This was followed immediately, with the establishment of a National Disability Commission.
The overreaching objective was to improve the welfare and the inclusion of people with Disabilities. A 7 man governing council for the commission was therefore inaugurated today in Abuja.
