Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari has launched the Revised National Policy on Population for Sustainable Development across the country.
The President who stressed the need for urgent measures to address Nigeria’s high fertility rate said the overall goal was to improve the quality of life and standards of living of all Nigerians.
This according to President Buhari would be achieved through expanding access to modern contraceptive methods as well as the promotion of birth spacing.
As Fatimah Ibrahim reports, other highlights of the population policy, underscored the importance of investing in quality education, human capital development and advancing holistic effort to achieve significant demographic transition.
