Niger and Benin’s decades of bilateral and economic failing ties are deteriorating following the military coup in Niamey that deposed President Mohammed Bazoum.
Benin is accused of hosting ECOWAS troops for a possible intervention to restore constitutional rule; apprehensively, the coup leaders have deployed hundreds of Nigerien soldiers along the nation’s border with Benin as a preventative measure.
