Niger and the Canadian company Zimar have signed a memorandum of understanding to build a large oil refinery and petrochemical complex in the Dosso region, located in the southwest of the country near the Benin border.
The refinery will have a capacity of 100,000 barrels per day, significantly boosting Niger’s oil processing capabilities. During the signing ceremony, interim Prime Minister General Salifou Mody emphasized that the project is a key part of Niger’s strategy to promote sustainable industrialization, create jobs, and provide opportunities for its citizens.
The refinery and petrochemical complex will help Niger reduce its dependence on imported fuel and other refined products while stimulating the local economy.
