More than 16,000 human rights violations were recorded in 2023, an increase of 86% from the previous year.

According to the report by Cluster Protection, a group of non-governmental organisations working to protect people in conflict areas, the deteriorating security situation justifies these violations.

In another report, published last week, the UN independent expert Alioune Tine expressed concern about the severe closure of civic space in the country.
