In the Kayes region of Mali, authorities are attempting community dialogue to end the phenomenon of descent-based slavery.
The governor of the region facilitated a meeting to move towards abandoning the practice, which is a traditional heritage in some families. A charter of cohabitation was concluded at the end of the meeting.
According to the administrative authority, the dialogue will lead to finding lasting solutions to the practice of slavery by descent.
