Two journalists from Mali’s state broadcaster, ORTM, have been released after spending nearly three months in captivity.
Daouda Koné, ORTM’s regional director in Douentza, and cameraman Salif Sangaré were abducted on October 4, 2025, in central Mali by the Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims (JNIM).
Their release was confirmed on Monday, weeks after a video circulated by the armed group showed them alive in early December.
Malian authorities have so far not provided details on the circumstances surrounding their release or the conditions under which they were freed.
