The Malian army announced on Sunday it has successfully neutralized a leader of the Daesh terrorist group.

The operation came in the wake of airstrikes conducted in the Ménaka region in the northern part of the country.

Aboulwahab Ould Choghib is notably held responsible for orchestrating massacres of civilians in the region.

Alongside the elimination of Choghib, the authorities reported neutralizing several other areas and recovering war materials during the operation.
