In Liberia, residents have decried the shortage of smaller Liberian dollar banknotes in circulation.
While the Liberian currency is in denominations of 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 and 500 dollars, the smaller currency notes have been scarce since the George Weah administration embarked on the printing of new banknotes. Many argue that during the exercise, the central bank failed to print smaller denominations, resulting in the shortage.
