Did you know that up to 150 million children throughout the world live on the street?

They are almost in all countries, including the developed ones.
In Dakar-Senegal, they are found at every nooks and crannies.

That is why on the April 12 every year is commemorated as International Day for Street Children.

This day provides a voice for children that live on the street so their rights cannot be ignored. The day provides opportunities for human rights organizations to spread awareness for the number of street children throughout the world.

Some children live on the street with their families. Other children spend a majority of their time on the street begging for food and money.

This day aims to raise awareness of the millions of street children all around the world and support the vital recognition of their rights.

In commemoration of this day Maty Sy takes a look at the plights of these children living on the streets.
