The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is calling for innovative solutions to restore the right to aid and protection for millions of people in countries affected by armed conflict and climate change.

These countries are Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali, Niger and Nigeria.

A new IRC West Africa Emergency report, based on the Watchlist of the 20 countries most at risk of new or worsening humanitarian emergencies, highlights alarming trends in deteriorating humanitarian crises in the region.

The committee has identified three factors that are accelerating crises in the region namely conflict, climate change, and economic turmoil.

Hannah Gibbin, is IRC Deputy Regional Director, for West Africa.
