The Guinean transition has rejected the ECOWAS appointment of former UN diplomat Dr. Mohamed Ibn Chambas as the country’s special envoy.

According to interim President Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya, it is neither opportune nor urgent to appoint a mediator for Guinea because there is no internal crisis, likely to compromise the normal course of the Transition.
