Emerging reports from Guinea say calm has returned to the streets of Conakry, after Thursday’s demonstration by the National Front for the Defense of the Constitution (FNDC).

The protest took despite a ban by the authorities, who have banned demonstrations on the public highway until the end of the transition period.

Several demonstrators were arrested, injured and journalists assaulted by military reinforcements.
