The Bissau-Guinean authorities have issued an international arrest warrant against former Prime Minister – Domingos Simoes Pereira.
The press release gives no details on the nature of the charges.
Domingos Simoes Pereira currently lives in exile in Portugal.
He un-successfully challenged the victory of President Umaro Sissoco Embalo following the December 29, 2019 presidential election.
The move to arrest Pereira comes two months after regional peacekeepers of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), departed the country after deploying there to restore peace following a 2012 military coup.
