In Ghana, an Aljazeera investigative documentary series has uncovered shocking evidence of gold smuggling and money laundering syndicates implicating the Ghanaian presidency.

The four-part series reveals that undercover journalists posing as Chinese gangsters engaged Alistair Mathias, a self-described “Financial Architect” who has a history of successfully orchestrating such schemes.

Mathias claimed to have executed similar operations in Ghana and boasted about being friends with the country’s President, who he also said used to be his lawyer.

The documentary exposes Mathias’ modus operandi, which relies on the trust that some corrupt politicians have in him to stash away their embezzled resources.
