Ghana’s Electoral Commission (EC) has watered down concerns from civil society organizations, religious bodies and the largest position party the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the forensic audit of the 2024 voter register list ahead of December polls.
Addressing all political parties at the Special Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting, the EC chairperson Jean Mensah said all anomalies identified in the provisional voter register have been corrected, therefore a call for forensic audit is unwarranted.
She upheld that the EC remains resolute to conduct free fair and credible elections, but the opposition NDC believes the current state of the register is unfit for purpose.
